Client: Freddie’s Wish
A registered charity offering support and care to help those who have lost a child. Partnerships with Child Bereavement UK and MDD First Aid help Freddie’s Wish to educate healthcare professionals and wider society on the importance of proactive support to bereaved parents, and fund first aid courses for parents and carers.
Brief: To design a Christmas card that conveys the brand, while also working as a stand-alone seasonal card one could send to friends and family.
With a shooting star the charity’s logo, the night sky was used as the basis of the design. The brand’s recognisable blue and orange colour scheme could easily translate to the forest scene, providing a playful, magical and festive backdrop from which to promote the charity.
Christmas can be a very difficult time for anyone who is bereaved, especially from the loss of a child, which made setting the correct tone all the more important. While the design needed to be ‘Christmassy’, achieved through the Christmas trees and snow, it also needed to be respectful, sympathetic and offer a sense of hope.
The wording, while uncomplicated, utilised the idea of Freddie’s ‘wish’, and the interior message continued the use of the brand colours and logo. Perhaps most importantly, the card included the phone number for a child bereavement support line, which may have been a lifeline for someone in need at that trying time of year.
